p-tert-Butylphenol formaldehyde resin formula graphical representation
Butylphen formaldehyde resin; 4-(1,1-Dimethylethyl)phenol formaldehyde resin; PTBP formaldehyde; [Marks, p. 114] p-tert-Butylphenolformaldehyde resin; 4-(1,1-Dimethylethyl)phenol, formaldehyde polymer; Ckm 1634; Formaldehyde, p-tert-butylphenol polymer; Paraformaldehyde, formaldehyde, p-tert-butylphenol polymer; p-tert-Butylphenol, formaldehyde resin; 4-(1,1-Dimethylethyl)phenol, polymer with formaldehyde; Formaldehyde, polymer with 4-(1,1-dimethylethyl)phenol; [ChemIDplus]
Formaldehyde Resins
Uses include: adhesive in shoes, automobile interior upholstery, furniture hobbies, leather, artificial fingernails, and adhesive labels; [Marks, p.113] Used in adhesives to increase flexibility or water resistance; [Kanerva, p. 584] The macromolecular form of the resin is PTPB plastic; Used in glues; [ChemIDplus]
PTPB formaldehyde resin allergy is seen in shoemakers and other workers who make leather goods with adhesives. The resin may also be used by dental workers, plywood production workers, box makers, insulation installers, and auto workers who use the resin as a sealant. About one half of patients become sensitized while working at home with woodworking and ceramic adhesives. [Marks, p. 113] The CAS # of 4-tert-Butylphenol is 98-54-4. [ChemFinder]
